Advance Care Planning in Pediatric Serious Illness

Dr. Khaliah Johnson: Healer Across All Spaces

Dr. Khaliah Johnson is a Stanford-educated pediatrician and palliative care specialist who serves as Division Chief for Pediatric Palliative Care at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University. Beyond her impressive credentials, Dr. Khaliah is a healer whose work transcends traditional medical boundaries.

Driven by her core values of love, healing, connection, faith, and family, Dr. Khaliah empowers families and practitioners to integrate holistic and medical approaches to wellness while breaking generational patterns. Her unique approach combines evidence-based medicine with a deep understanding of the mind-body-spirit connection, particularly for underserved communities.

As a Cambia Health Foundation Sojourns Scholar, Dr. Khaliah’s work addresses racism in pediatric serious illness, bringing equity to healthcare’s most vulnerable moments. Her commitment extends globally through We Are Wendo, the non-profit she founded in rural Kenya.

When not healing in clinical settings, Dr. Khaliah brings her gifts of joy, inspiration, and style to community gatherings, speaking engagements, and advocacy work. She’s passionate about creating spaces where professional women of color can thrive in all dimensions of their lives.

A devoted mother to her son Aubrey, Dr. Khaliah embodies her philosophy that healing happens in all spaces—from hospital rooms to community forums to family homes. Through her E3 approach (Educate, Encourage, Empower), she helps others integrate wellness practices that honor the whole person across all life’s transitions.
